Volunteer Opportunities at

THE HEBRIDEAN WHISKY SHOW

On Saturday, 25 April, we are hosting the inaugural Hebridean Whisky Show at MacGregor’s at the Whisky Vaults in Oban. This event celebrates the best of island spirits and culture, providing a vibrant, high-energy environment that is perfect for capturing dynamic event photography and cinematic video content. Specifically, the event will cover tastings, masterclasses and live music.

We are looking for enthusiastic students to join us for the day (11:00 – 5pm) to capture the essence of the show—from the masterclasses to the “spirit” of the crowd, to build our digital media library. Shots may include anything such as closeups of whisky being poured, people enjoying themselves, and crowd shots. A full list of desired shots will be provided prior to the event.

What we offer in exchange:

  • Travel Expenses: We will fully cover travel costs to and from Oban (does not include overnight accommodation).
  • One meal will be provided.
  • Media Pass Access: Get behind the scenes, from set-up before it begins, to each tasting, masterclass and music session. Want a shot from behind the bar or vendor or somewhere off-limits? No problem, just let us know. 
  • High-Level Exposure: Selected photos and videos will be featured on our official website and social media channels, with full credit provided to the creator during the Show’s social campaign and ongoing credit on the website.
  • Portfolio Pieces: Students will have access to a professional, high-end event to build their commercial portfolio.
  • Professional Reference: We are happy to provide a formal testimonial or LinkedIn recommendation upon successful completion.
  • The Experience: A chance to network within the Scottish hospitality and spirits industry, and gain experience in capturing a live event.
  • Free Entrance to Show: If desired and not driving, the last 90 minutes of the day can be spent sampling the spirits as an attendee.

What we are looking for:

  • A keen eye for candid moments and detail.
  • Reliability and a professional attitude.
  • From the photographer, a quick turnaround for a small selection of “highlight” images for social media.
  • From the videographer, a final Highlights video for Facebook, Instagram and YouTube (desktop and mobile ratios).
  • From both, all unedited images and videos taken, for our media library.

Volunteers must be 18 years of age or older.
