Morning
Torabhaig Distillery is housed in an old farm steading which has been lovingly restored. Visitors take a guided distillery tour where they see distillers in action, and enjoy a tutored tasting of our Torabhaig Cnoc na Moine – the third expression in a series of four which will take us to our 10-year release. On site is a whisky and gift shop including crafts from many local artisans, and we also have a café with indoor and outdoor seating which serves refreshments and home baking.
Afternoon
For a scenic drive, we recommend the loop to Ord, stopping at Dùn Scaith Castle and Tarskavaig Beach on the way. An adventurous drive along winding single track roads with views of the Cuillin Mountains, a small, white sandy beach castle ruins. To take this circular route from Torabhaig Distillery, turn left on the A851. Follow this road about 5.5 miles to Kilbeg, turn right towards Tarskavaig. Upon reaching the village, it is possible to follow the single track roads towards the beach and walk down the path. Be aware this is an active farming region and livestock may be on the beach. Please remember to close all gates behind you and keep dogs on a lead. Continue down the road towards Tokavaig, parking off road near the bay. Follow the signed track to Dunscaith Castle. Please note the drawbridge has deteriorated and the interior is not safely accessible. Return to the main road and continue heading in the same direction. At Ord the road turns inland and crosses back where it ultimately rejoins the A851. About a mile to the right will return you to Torabhaig Distillery, or turn left to head towards Broadford.
For a leisurely wander, there’s none better than Armadale Castle, Gardens and Museum. Discover 1500 years of history at the spiritual home of Clan Donald. Explore our magnificent garden, romantic castle ruin and award-winning museum. Enjoy family activities, stunning views, woodland walks, cafe, shop and regular events programme.
